Learning Experience
Development
Your curriculum is the product. We design and build the experience around it: the practice, feedback, lesson tools, subscriptions, and progress views that make a learning platform worth coming back to. Built for education businesses that already know what their learners should be doing.
The difference is what comes after it.
- 01LessonsWhat you teach, in the format your learners need
- 02PracticeWhat learners actually do with it
- 03FeedbackWhat they hear back, and how they try again
- 04ProgressWhat changes over time, and what's next
- 05VisibilityWhat parents, teachers, and admins can see
Underneath it all: accounts and roles, content tools, subscriptions, and the systems your business already runs on.
Built for education businesses
with something to teach.
You already have the curriculum and the learners. What you need is software that fits the way you teach, rather than a course template you have to bend your program around. We also build branded course experiences for coaching and training organizations.
Young learners, real practice
Music, arts, language, and kindergarten-readiness programs where learners are young, practice matters, and parents want to see progress.
Curriculum becoming a product
Teams turning an established curriculum into a digital product, with lesson tools their own staff can use to create and update content.
Past the page builder
Education products that started on a website builder, a SaaS course tool, or an AI-built prototype, and now need to support real subscribers at real scale.
The lesson is the start.
What happens next is the product.
A standard LMS is built to deliver content and record completion, and for many programs that's exactly the right foundation. But when your value is in what learners do — play along with a song, finish a puzzle, build something, try again — the experience on top of the LMS is where the real work is.
We use the Learning Loop Test to find that line early. What a learner repeatedly does inside the platform tells you more than any feature checklist, and it tells us which parts are worth building and which are better borrowed.
The experience, on top of the foundation
We'll tell you when you
don't need custom.
Moodle, Canvas, and SaaS course platforms are genuinely capable, and rebuilding what they already do well is rarely a good use of your time or money. Most of the education platforms we work on use a mix of all three paths below. Not sure which fits? When Your Curriculum Becomes Software walks through the decision, and Custom Software vs. Off-the-Shelf covers build, buy, or integrate more broadly.
Keep your LMS. Add what it can't do.
Keep a mature LMS for delivery and records, and build the custom pieces around it: practice activities, a branded app, or reporting it doesn't offer.
Connect the platform to the business.
Connect the platform you have to your CRM, email, billing, and support tools, so enrollment, access, and follow-up stop depending on manual work.
Build the part that makes you different.
Build the platform itself when the learning loop, your content tools, or your business model don't fit any existing product, and reuse proven services for everything else.
The pieces of a
learning platform.
Every platform is different, but the work usually falls into six areas. Some projects need one of them. Others need all six, connected.
Practice Activities & Learning Games
Interactive activities where learners do the work: play along, drag, build, answer, and try again, with feedback designed for the age and skill level of your learners.
Lesson Authoring & Publishing Tools
Lesson builders and content tools your curriculum team can use without a developer, with previews, drafts, review, and publishing built in.
Memberships, Subscriptions & Access
Trials, plans, family and organization accounts, and the rules for what learners can open when a subscription starts, changes, or ends. Billing through Recurly or Stripe.
Progress for Learners, Parents & Teachers
Progress views that give each role what it needs: learners see what's next, parents see growth, and teachers and admins see who needs help.
Branded Mobile Learning Apps
iOS and Android apps that share a backend with your web platform, tested on real devices with real learners. More on our approach on the App Development page.
LMS Foundations, Standards & Integrations
Course delivery, enrollment, and certificates when you need them; SCORM or xAPI support when your content has to run in, or report to, another LMS; and connections to your CRM, email, and support tools.
Real learners.
Real platforms.
My Music Workshop
A do-it-yourself Wix subscription site rebuilt as a custom, gamified music learning platform with Recurly billing, including moving a live subscriber base without losing continuity.

Kindergarten-readiness learning with lessons, games, and progress tracking, plus a lesson builder and Creator Studio, a tool that helps teachers create classroom resources.
"The lesson builder for Miss Humblebee's Academy. It has many great features, and it's done in a way that allows people to easily build lessons that are accessible and fun for children to use."

When Ian tested a puzzle activity with his five-year-old son, the first thing his son did was drag a piece the activity wasn't built to handle. That one test changed the build before paying customers ever saw it.

Start with one workflow.
Build from there.
You get a shared board, weekly progress updates, staging access, and direct contact with the engineers on your project. You don't need a finished spec to start.
Free 30-Minute Discovery Call
Tell us about your learners, your curriculum, and what isn't working. You'll talk with engineers, not a sales team, and leave with a clear next step.
One Complete Learning Workflow
We map one workflow end to end, from a learner opening a lesson to a parent or teacher seeing progress, before planning anything else.
Staged Releases You Can Try
Two-week sprints and staging access throughout, with real learners trying early versions on real devices before launch.
Yours to Keep
You own the code and the content. We build in common languages any trained engineer can maintain, and we work from your designers' files or ours.
Common questions about
learning platforms.
Do we need a custom LMS, or can we extend the one we have?
Often you can extend it. If your learners mainly watch lessons, take quizzes, and move on, a mature LMS like Moodle or Canvas is a strong foundation, and we can build the custom pieces around it. Custom development makes sense when the learning loop, your content tools, or your business model don't fit any existing platform.
Can you work with our existing curriculum and content?
Yes. Most education businesses we work with come to us with an established curriculum. We plan how that content is structured, brought into the platform, and maintained afterward, so it fits the new experience without losing what already works.
Who updates lessons after launch?
Your team. We build lesson-building and publishing tools so curriculum staff can create and update content themselves, without a developer request for every change.
Can families and schools subscribe differently?
Yes. We build subscription and access rules for individual families, households with more than one learner, and organizations such as schools, with billing through Recurly or Stripe. The rules decide what each learner can open when a plan starts, changes, or ends.
Do you build mobile apps for learning platforms?
Yes. We build iOS and Android apps that share a backend with your web platform, and we test them on real devices with the kinds of learners who will use them.
What should we bring to a Discovery Call?
A short description of your learners, the curriculum you have today, and one learning workflow you want to improve. You don't need a spec. The call is free, takes 30 minutes, and you'll leave knowing the right next step.
Bring one lesson.
We'll map the rest.
Spend 30 minutes with us on one learning workflow: what learners do, what they hear back, and what parents or teachers need to see. You'll leave with an honest view of the right next step, whether that's working with us or not.
- ✓ We start from your curriculum, not a template
- ✓ We'll tell you when an existing LMS is enough
- ✓ We build for real learners on real devices
