When it comes to online marketing, keeping up with Google is a must. However, this can be a daunting task. Did you know that Google makes changes to its search algorithms around 500 – 600 times a year? On February 26th of this year Google published an official news release explaining how they hope to help their users have a better search experience on mobile devices.

Before the update occurred, you may have already noticed one of these changes. If you search for something on Google from a mobile device, there is now text in grey, below the URL, that says “Mobile-friendly” for some of the results. This is a signal that Google has recently put in place to help users find websites that are optimized for their devices. However, on April 21st, Google expanded this signal in its use for rank.

If you are not sure whether you have a mobile-friendly website, Google has also released a handy tool called the Mobile Friendly Test. With this tool, you simply enter in your website’s URL and it will give you a report about whether your site is mobile-friendly or not. Here’s an example of our website’s results:
